What is Safechoices?

The Safe Choices program is statewide initiative of the Tasmanian Family Violence Action Plan 2015- 2020 (Safe Homes, Safe Families).

Its primary focus is the improved safety of women, children and other Tasmanian community members, through the raising of community awareness around the issues of Family Violence.

The program will provide practical support, advice and referral to support services, for those people experiencing Family Violence, through providing the following services:

  • A web-site which will provide information around Family Violence and support services available.
  • E-mail support available to all members of the community
  • Phone support through a 1800 number
  • Information packs
  • One to one support from a case worker for those people experiencing multiple needs

Safe Choices Vision

All Safe Choices services are provided free from discrimination and ensure the fair treatment of all people.

Workers will be able to provide practical support in Southern Tasmania in the first year, the North West in the second year and then the North in the third year, when it will become a state-wide service. People across the Tasmania will be able to access the web-site, e-mail and phone support in first year.

Safe Choices is not an emergency or crisis service, but if one of our workers felt that you need an emergency service, they will help you get in touch with the most appropriate service.
